What inspires you to do what you do?
My love for watches and photography. I really enjoy what I do because it's a great combination of these two hobbies.
With so many watches to choose from, how do you decide which one to wear?
I choose my watch depending on the clothes I'm wearing. Although many times I choose the watch first and then I try to match the clothes.
What about Original Grain watches do you like?
I like how the wood matches perfectly with leather, so it's easy to match them with my belt, shoes or leather jackets. Wood has the advantage that it has many different color tones.
You have a very distinct style of watch photography, how did that become the “Watchaca Style”!?
The “Watchaca Style” may be recognizable because I started using the watch in my photography as an element of an artistic composition instead of just using it as a product.
What is your day job and where are you from?
I'm from Santiago, Chile. I worked for more than 8 years as an Art Director in advertising agencies and now I'm working full-time as a photographer and art director for many watch brands and other products.
How do you find outfits or backgrounds to match the watches?
I use my own clothing & sometimes I borrow some from my family or friends. But I try to keep my wardrobe up to date with the latest styles. Regarding backgrounds, it's very hard to keep the textures and props fresh. I'm constantly looking for new ideas and sometimes I find them in the strangest places.
Why watches? Have you always loved watches?
I've been a watch lover since I was a kid. I've always been attracted to design and aesthetics and I love how watches combine that with engineering. I'm a car lover too for the same reason!
Anything else that you’d like to share about your approach to photography and watches?
It's been amazing how this started as a hobby and now I see my photography all over the web. It's very satisfying how different brands appreciate my work. I'm very thankful and I'm enjoying this!
