Every year woodworkers from all over, and all different professions converge onto San Antonio, Texas for the Stairway Manufacturers Association (SMA) Conference. This seminar brings together members of SMA to show case their work and to raise money for the association with an auction.
Original Grain donated two watches to be auctioned off, a Classic Maplewood Matte Black and a Sapele Barrel Matte Black.
Someone couldn't keep their hands off the merchandise as the Sapele Barrel was stolen from our friend Derek's exhibit table before the conference. This did generate quite a bit of buzz at the conference so I guess the old saying "any press is good press" applied here.
During the auction, the buzz with Original Grain continued as there was a bidding war between many members for the Classic Maplewood watch. When it was all said and done, the watch went for $800! It was the highest priced item, even beating out a 3 day, 2 night fishing trip.
